Are you taking amitriptyline ?

My son recently died, I believe from the side effects of taking the prescibed drug, amitriptyline. Has anyone else experienced the side effects of this drug, if so please would you send me your experiences, contact details and the permissioin to store and subsequently use the information to get the use of this drug more closely monitored

I am very sorry for your loss. I hope no one on here takes it upon themselves to send you stupid or insulting answers. Fortunately i am not on this drug but my heart still goes out to u. Take care. x
Yes i have taken this drug for 3 yrs and found the side effects of depression, mood swings and high as a kite most days then bang i hit rock bottom.I was on this drug due to the severe pain i suffer from my back and legs,it did help with the pain but my general wellbeing suffered,i am now off this drug and have been put on diclofenic,co codamol and nortriptilyn if you need any more info you can contact me on my email, best of luck.
I am so sorry. I took amitriptyline for over two years and I was fed up so I stopped them. I ended up sectioned for a week in a mental health hospital because I had something very close to a nervous breakdown and they were worried I would harm myself. Now, that was stopping the tablets. While I was taking them, I was paranoid, couldn't sleep, became practically agoraphobic as I couldn't bare to be around people, I couldn't write anymore and what I did write down was unreadable, I had memory loss and more. Please feel free to e-mail me at melanie.swan1@btinternet.com
If you like, I could try and get an appointment with my doctor to get my records of this time if it would help you and yes, you definately have my permission to store and use my info.
I'm sorry for your loss. I'm on amitriptyline & have been for 6 years but the worst part is my doctor telling me a year ago i'll be on them for life. I get headaches, really hot flushes, i only started looking at why i was getting these effects a couple of months ago seeing someone on this site talking about the side effects they have, its worrying for the fact that you do become dependant on then regardless of what GP's say.
Feel free to email.
