I've always used dish soap and it seems to work. I had some really bad bites and my boyfriend put calamin lotion on them and it cooled them down and made them less itchy.

I bathed my daughter in oatmeal powder that you can buy at drugstores or maybe Walmart to help with itching. I've also used gold bond powder which seemed to help.
You might want to try Burn Jel Plus which is available at Wal-Mart. Just put it on a band-aid and let it soak into the skin. In two hours, your skin will be numb. It contains lidocaine.
I haven't tried this, but Burn Jel Plus works for things such as cuts and hangnails, so it won't be a waste to try it out.
to prevent the bites start using bug spray. it helps. also since you already have them then try using burn cream. like that stuff you put on sunburn. i'm in florida on vacation and i've been bitten alot too. the burn cream actually helped.
