Do antibiotics normally cause drowsiness?

Yesterday I went to the doctor and was prescribed an antibiotic for a UTI. Today I feel like a moose danced on my head. I am so out of it. Any ideas why?

My allergies are also running rampant. Maybe the combination of allergies and fighting an infection is the cause?

Answer:
A lot of antibiotics do cause drowsiness. It's your body using all its energy to fight of the infection and telling you to lay low till its done. Hope your feeling better soon. Drink lots of liquids and stock up on cranberry jus its great for UTI's.
Some antibiotics can cause drowsiness. It is also bad allergy season. It is probably both the meds and the allergy's and not to mention UTI's make you feel horrible. Sorry to hear you feel bad. Get well soon. Happy 4TH!!
In some cases antibiotics will cause drowsiness. they are fighting whatever bacterial infection that is in you system and it is also depending on the strength and dosage that you were prescribed.
i would suggest to contact your physician or pharmacist and tell them how you are feeling with the Rx. They will determine wether you should continue taking it or not.
the phone number to your pharmacist should be on the prescription bottle.
