I got a bottle of B vitamins called "Stress Formulation B". The naturopath says they help with stress, but I didn't get much else from her.
How do B vitamins help with stress? Do they really help at all? How exactly do they work, and what is the formulation (what mg of each B vitamin is necessary) to have any effect?
We just bought a house and I am 39 weeks pregnant, and I think he could use something to help him deal with the stress...

I would say that vitamin B does indeed play a small role in relieving some stress. In addition to taking vitamin B your fiance might also want to look into some herbal supplements. Some of the herbs that are known to relieve levels of stress include: St. Johns wart, Valerian, Kava Kava..etc. I have had luck with Valerian. It can be taken in a capsule form and can be found at any natural food store.

There are no vitamins or minerals that help get rid of stress. Stress is necessary to function and to survive. If your husband is under an excessive amount of stress, he needs to talk to his doctor about it. Only a doctor can write a prescription for something to calm his nerves.
B vitamins help only if he is deficient in those. The body disposes of excess B vitamins (any it doesn't need to utilize). Have him try Tension Tamer tea by Celestial Seasonings. I use 2 tea bags to one cup of water; when done steeping I pour it over ice and drink it cold. (just because I don't like it hot) I find it helps me relax. He may just be stressed with the impending birth of your child. There are many ways to decelerate. you should give him a massage, and then when you're done, he can return the favor (and I'm sure that would be nice!)
Yes, I think it helps, I tried, and it works. You should also let him destress himself by going to the park, walk around with him, best if you are near to the seaside, feel the seabreeze. and relax!!
No, not really. People under stress generate cortisol, sometimes referred to as the "fight or flight" hormone. To reduce the levels of stress, a person's cortisol level needs to be balanced.
There are some dietary supplements that help to balance a person's cortisol level. Personally, I'm also not keen on taking mood stabilizer drugs and so I use a herb based product called Cortitrol. It contains herbs like magnolia bark and green tea to balance a person's cortisol level.
Tip: Coffee elevates our cortisol level as well as frequent exercise! :-)
