DLA home medical?

why do they want to visit me at home and what can i expect?
also is it a good or bad thing?

Answer:
its nothing to worry about its more private and the doctor can get a better picture of what you can and cant do in and around your home it is a independant doctor that works for the dla it is better this way as they are independant of your own doctor this is all they do day in day out dont worry about it yes it is a good thing because if you made your own way to see them they may see this as there is nothing wrong with you also there are many factors to look at in your claim if your are unsuccesfull appeal against the decision you may get lucky and have the decision overturned good luck
i think it probably depends on whether you have a genuine claim as to whether its a good thing or not. if you are claiming for mobility, maybe thats why they want to visit you at home to see if you have any adaptions.
There are several reasons for them coming to your home. Here they can do a needs led assessment in situ. This is more realistic than trying to explain on paper about disabilities.
Secondly this is a more private interaction than you having to go into some room in a building and be asked to 'perform'.
Thirdly it gives the decision makers a very true picture of your disablilities. The only ones that need fear this type of medical are those that are claiming this benefit fraudulently.
I personally think it is a good thing as it is a more civilised way of being assessed.
Good luck with it.
