In general, choking on liquids is temporary and harmless. Call the rescue squad if your child chokes on a liquid and turns blue, becomes limp, or passes out.
Cough it up.
As soon as food or fluids enter your windpipe the epiglotis will close up, preventing items entering the lungs.
The body then automatically causes itself to cough to remove the foreign matter from the larynx to prevent it getting further along and to dislodge what is there.
If you have coughed and your chest has settled you will be OK.
If you develop signs of a chest infection or a fever go to the ER immediantly.
A lot of people chock but not a lot develop complication sfrom it.
