Dog tail break HELP?

i found it disturbing that my vet IMMEDIETLY advised amputation after literally 10 seconds of inspection. my dog is very furry so that would make it harder. the area did look a little bruised and blood could be seen (NOT pouring out, at the end of the tail) but it had no obvious kinks in it. why didnt my vet even SUGGEST an x-ray. he said only to amputate, he even booked us in after a TOTAL of 3 minutes of inspection (including injecting pain killers, antibiotic and weighing him)
the vet drives a brand new x5 (new model) so maybe hes looking for money?
what else could of happened? bruised muscles, could a splint help in fixing a dislocation, break? or is amputation the ONLY way to go?

th vet also took my dog away from me for the night, is this normal? why couldnt we drop him back the next morning? did he NOT want us to inspect the tail?

i dont intend on fixing this myself, but i dont want my baby to lose his tail if he doesnt have to!!

Why not seek a second opinion?. Sounds like your not totally satisfied with this vet and there are many vets to choose from. I wouldn't continue with my own doctor if I felt uncomfortable with him. Go with your instinct.
Blood wouldn't be present usually with muscle pull. You could ask for a second opinion. He should not have removed the dog from you unless you signed off on surgery or boarding. I'd say you need to find a new vet seeing as you can't listen to him/her over the roar of his new car. Once doubt sets in you won't listen anymore anyway.
I would get my dog and go to a vet who takes the time to explain to you what your options are. No vet would do ANYTHING to MY pet if I didn't know what, when and how much before they did it. They took him to do his work up before the surgery. If you didn't authorize the vet to do anything, he SHOULDN'T DO ANYTHING. I would call and tell them do nothing to my dog, I am picking him up for a second opinion.
Find another vet.
