Answer:
My daughter had gotten bit in the face by a dog also.I was told to massage her scars and they would fade. That helped some. but there is also an over the counter ointment for scars. Check your local pharmacy. I also hope you filed charges on this dog! I did, and I'm grateful that he couldn't bite other kids like he did mine.
If it's a raised scar, once it's healed, you can put on those silicone scar strip things or scar treatments (the kind in tubes.) But don't put them on until it's healed up--they're not for open wounds.
As far as while it's healing, keep it clean--did they say to keep it covered? Follow their instructions as far as that.
That sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. Poor little kid. Poor you with a poor little kid. That must have been really frightening. Hope things turn out OK.
Hospital Burn Ward. Compressive face mask (Jobst garment or clear plastic - plastic looks better but it's horribly sweaty) plus burn silicone gel pads after the incision is healed closed. That plus massage (lots - when you aren't doing anything else, massage it but don't irritate it) during the first six months prevents collagen from clustering, contracting, and deforming the tissue. Lube the contact with a bit of Vitamin E cream as necessary.
Talk with your doctors. After they leave, talk with the Burn nurses.
thats why i hate dogs!
