Does having a pet make you feel good?

i find pets can soothe and heal a person's feeling of loneliness, depression, anxiety, and even anger. pets like cats, dogs, rabbits and others.

what about you?

Answer:
I live for my pets, 1 cat, 6 dogs, 6 horses, 1 cow, 1 rooster, and 2 geese. And don't tell me I have too many. They all get lots of love and attention, lots of exercise, food, and a little discipline if needed. They travel with me and enjoy their leisure too. I've not hired a psychologist because my animals keep me sane. They love me unconditionally and I love them the same way back.
My last boyfriend wanted me to get rid of some of them, so I got rid of him. I don't think anyone could put up with me now, because I sleep with 4 dogs and a cat on my bed. But, then I don't have to put up with a man!! I take a couple of my smaller dogs to a retirement home every month to visit the old folks, and they really put smiles on their faces. My grand nieces and nephews play with them and learn how to feed and take care of them, and so learn some responsibility. One of my disabled students rides my oldest horse and it is helping her to get feeling in her legs.
When I get sad they snuggle with me and when I am excited they bark, quack, and jump around. They are very sensitive and have emotions too. I would never break up with my pet, and I'd much rather get dumped by a man than my pet anytime. Enjoy!
i agree.
me too. =)
I definitely agree.
Dogs have a very calming effect on me...
as long as they aren't barking.
Yes. I LOVE my cat. Just having her around makes me feel better.
My doctor said my kitten is good for my depression, so she must be good for my mental health, so i'll have to say, YES! :)
That is true, but when you are single, having a new pet can fill your life with stress, frustration and lots of cleaning up!
I have a doggy named buddy and love him we're real close though he always wants to runaway i wonder why *buddy''she's a pet abuser i tell u''* well 4 real he loves me n i lov him except wen he spots a gurl dog n turns all his attention to her *how rude!*
oh totally. actually that is a proven fact. they often bring pets to old age homes to help the elderly folks feel better. i've always had animals and they become like part of the family (and they are sometimes more loyal - lol!)
I think so to there always by your side and when your upset they will always turn your frown=( upside down =) i mean one day i was cryin and was really upset then my dog came into my room and cheered me up and then i took him for a nice walk we had soo much fun
i totally agree
i have 6 cats but im giving 2 away :(
1 dog...
and i love them they are my best friends and im glad i have them and if u dont have any bros and sis`s then u could have great company with pets like me...but the main problem is that u have to treat them like children bc they get sick and u have to care for them...and when they die u feel like u lost someone important...but they still comfort anyone.
my cats in the hospital but i still have my other pets to comfort me
Dito, cuz if u dont have a big or little brother/sister you could play with your pet and you can have somebody to play with if your ever bored.
well if you were trying to get a pet to make you feel better you dont want to get one that would be hard to take care of. but in the same case im betting you want something that shows good emotions and enjoys playing with you. something that wouldn't cost much to take care of would help to. I think the best kind of pet for you would either be a hamster or guinea pig. but if your not the rodent type go for a rabbit.
I agree! When you start to feel sad or mad or any other kind of emotion, you just sit down with your pet(s) and pet them and it calms me down. They also confort you when you are lonely.
Yes they have a amazing effect on you psychologically and emotionally. Its part of the family but it never yells at you, its always happy to see you and sad to see you go. Will be faithful, loyal and protect you when needed. :)
OF COURSE! I have had many pets and when I was mad at some one and wanted to scream but I couldn't I would hold my cat because its the cuteness of her and I love her because she's like a stuffed animal. I think that's why most people want pets.

My aunt isn't married and she is in her 60s and she's had a cat to be rowdy with even though the cat bites and scratches her when it gets mad. The pet also gives my aunt company because she will watch TV with it, and talk to it and all that good stuff.
yes they do.remember they need to be giving lots of time and love from their owners...if you can not, don t be a pet owner
