Answer:
Nerve damage is a recognised risk of this type of operation. The object of nerve conduction studies is to ascertain the degree of nerve damage-the good news maybe that the nerve is not completely severed and that the nerve impulse is passing along the full length of the nerve.Up to 70% of patients who have hip arthroplasty have evidence of nerve damage but the majority do not have symptoms .Depending on the degree of nerve damage there hopefully should be some degree of recovery
probably means its a bit better and there will be no more improvement, but hey im guessing
My friend had a nerve test with a drop foot as well. I am pretty shocked that they said that to her. All the tests do is ensure that all the nerves work and that the correct message is being sent to the brain. If there is a problem they can see where the blockage is and work on it. For my friend she had good news bad news. The bad news was that there was a definite problem but the good news is that they could help. She now has a nerve block which is a painful injection that blocks all pain to originating from that nerve. They are not permanent but certainly help.
