Just think of the bright side. If you have one of those moments when you're out in the middle of nowhere and you need to write something down, you'll have a built-in writing utensil to do so. Consider yourself fortunate.
You should be fine. I've had pins in a couple of times and have no trouble with function. Just be sure to follow your therapy instructions completely.
Probably not too good if they really put a pen in your thumb
If you follow your physical therapy completely your chances are great that you will have full use of your thumb since they are pulling out the pin.
Do what the doctor and therapist say.
I have borken my thumb to and i did not have to get a pen in but u should be able to do most normal things
Excellent...just make sure that you at least see the physical therapist to have the function of your thumb assessed after the pin is removed. Sometimes people have the pin removed and they make the decision that they are fine only to realized later on that they are having trouble with some activities and at that point its much harder to get the function back.
I broke a finger once, the bone and the joint, and the main problem is to recover the mobility. Even if you didn't broke your joint, after a long period of immobility it will get stiff. You have to exercise a lot. It hurts but it's worth it.
I've seen others with the same problem that didn't work it out as much as I did and they have problems closing their fists, grabbing things. They didn't recover the full movement of the joint.
