Does anyone know much about the pill Lexapro?

My husband has Anxiety and he went to the Doctors and they gave him Lexapro. The only thing is he's been actting all Depressed lately. It kinda sucks! We both told the Doctor NOT to put him on any Anti-Depression crap because he has been on it before and made him feel worse.

So, does anyone know much about this or has anyone taken it that can tell me about it??

Answer:
anxiety is one symptom of a much larger picture. many are unaware of the liver connection. your husband needs to be tested and seen for liver disease. nash, hepatitis b (dna virus) or hepatitis c (an rna virus) as well as diabetes type 1 or 2 can cause anxiety.
it happens when the toxicities build up in the body because the liver is either fighting off something or has liver damage. the other filteration organs have to work harder to, to take up the slack the liver is unable to handle.

lexapro is a good antidepressant-usually less side effects, but again, it's not for everyone. if you have gone down the road before with others, chances are it could be his liver-even if his alt and ast levels in a standard liver panel test, were normal. a person can still have liver disease-ie, hbv or hcv. most doctors are unaware of the alt/ast issue.

i would think that buspar would be better-it is used for anxiety. lexapro is an antidepressant.

good luck! i have been where you are!
I took Lexapro for approx 1 year. One important thing is DO NOT stop taking it once you have been taking it a while. If you stop cold turkey it makes you pretty sick!

The only side effect I noticed at the time was reduced sexual desire. Beyond that it seemed to be effective and with minimal side effects.
Yes I am on Lexapro and I do not notice many side effects that I did on other medications like Paxil. Talk with the doctor perhaps your husband needs to see a psychiatrist, so that he can get a proper diagnosis and treatment.
I took Lexapro for about 6 months. It made me extremely tired. My doctor had me take it at bedtime after that. It greatly reduced my anxiety. I had no other ill side effects. Make sure he takes it at bedtime. If he is still acting this way, schedule a dr.'s appt. and try another prescription.
Best wishes!
I was taking 10 mg
Doctors are evil. What do you expect. The Road Back program www.theroadback.org will be able to get him off Lexapro safely.
If Lexapro is making him worse (and a specific definition of what worse means would help), he could be bipolar. He should see a psychiatrist for a proper diagnosis.

If you two knew that antidepressants made him feel worse, why would he take them again?

Lexapro is fine for depression or anxiety disorders, but depression and anxiety/agitation can also be attributed to bipolar. Does he have manic or hypomanic episodes where he is really agitated? Does his mind race? Does he show signs of grandiosity or unusal energy?

Addition: I suspect bipolar.
Yes my friend is on it she never had any trouble with it i on the other hand am on Lithium Carbonate ask your doctor if you can switch if he says yes then dont be suprised if they give you a high dosage seeing as am 15 and am on 900mg a day! also it helps me stay up if that doesnt work ive heard many good thing about wellbutrine I hope this helps!! <3
I am taking it.

For the first week after you start taking it your anxiety will get worse not better. But then it starts to get better.

Hang in there for a week or so, and then if he does not start to improve talk to your doctor again.
