Answer:
I am currently on a combination of 150 MG of Effexor XL and 450 MG of Wellbutrin XR. The combination of the two was what helped me. Individually, they didn't do much. I have been on this combination for over 3 years now and am feeling much better.
my sister was on wellbutrin and it helped a lot.
Hi Debra,
Only a little. I am trained in a particular area of psychology; and as you may know wellbutrin is a drug of choice in treating depression. It appears that you want to know if there is any drug interaction with these two classes of meds? Adderall (spelling correct/brand name?) may sound familiar, is a CNS (central nervous system )stimulant. If these two drugs do not compete for the same enzyme(catalyst) receptors they should be safe taken together, but check with your GP and/or experienced psychiatrist because dosage requirements are also very important.
Secondly, from your brief history of your son, it does appear that he needs to improve possibly self-esteem/self-love issues which are causing him 'avoidance anxiety'.
Thirdly, you weaned him off Effexor XL last year. But this decision may have been a little premature. For depression and ADHD to be cured requires faith and perseverance. In this process you do seem to realize that drug therapy is absolutely essential along with a holistic health approach (diet, exercise, relaxation, sleep, prayer/yoga/meditation, continued support from immediate and extended family and friends, entertainment, hobbies etc.) Encourage him, a cure does often take some time.
Pharmaceuticals will restore normal brain chemistry and allieviate symptoms. In fact it is the complete allieviation of symptoms which is 'the cure' for all mental disorders and some persons are able to live without medication (either 'cold turkey' or 'tapered off') and feel and function normally while others find it much harder to do so and thus may choose and/or require long term drug therapy. Both options are equally good.
Generally there is no 'quick fix' to mental health disorders regardless of the etiology of the condition. Even relatively mild disorders may take time to heal. The difficult thing is that these disorders of the nervous system, like cocaine and heroin dependence and lifestyle disorders can be very challenging for the individuals concerned and for their support system of persons who love and stick by them (care
givers).
Please do your homework regarding your sons' disorder, as much as possible and get support and encouragement yourselves whenever you need it.
There is much more to be said and details given, but time does not permit.
Love and best regards.

P.S. This advice will also help greatly. 1..."With man some things are impossible, but not with GOD, all things are possible with GOD.
2... "Why do you doubt, O you of little faith...Bring the boy to me!...Everything is possible for him/her who believes."
3. "Teacher, I do believe [his father said], help me overcome my unbelief!"
-Jesus Christ AD 24-29.
Again, Good luck.
