Disability, need information?

After being seen by the Dr. at the request of the disability people. He advised I had anti-social disability. Now he advised he was gonna write it up & help me as best he could. Now how long does it take before you get an approval or denial letter?

Answer:
Sorry, but you have to go back to your doctor for that information. It depends on whether he has written you up, whether he has submitted the information, whether the clerks in that office have gone on summer vacation, whether there is more information that needs to be obtained. there are simply too many unknowns to make any sort of accurate prediction.
A diagnosis of anti social disorder alone may or may not qualify you for SSD. Were there any medications prescribed? Have you ever been hospitalized for this disorder? Any other confirmed mental health illnesses? How long have you been under a psychiatrists care? Are you currently in therapy?

Just letting you know...there is a lot more to this process than the diagnosis of a personality disorder.

Good luck and take care of you!

I had a neuro-psych exam that showed I have permanent brain damage that affects my cognitive abilities. SS denied me once. I had a company working for me and they continued the appeal process. It took 18 months, roughly, before I was approved.

Most attorneys will not take the case until you have been denied twice. Some advertise on TV and I think they will take you right away -- just know that they take 25%. Also, if you are approved, you receive benefits going back to the date you filed, think. I can't remember all the details. Two years after you are approved you are eleigible for Medicare.

Good luck. If you want the name of the company that worked with me, e-mail me. They, too, take 25% I think, but their fee is capped at a certain amount.
