Answer:
I was on Effexor XR for almost two years. I've been off and doing well for the past two years. I remember getting a slight headache, and weird leg twitching at night. Make sure you're weaning yourself off slowly, and with your doctors help! I was prescribed a 75mg dose which I took daily, when I felt ok and had no symptoms of my recurring depression and anxiety my doctor gave me a 37.5 dose. That too I took daily, and when I felt comfortable I was told to take it every other day and so on. Weaning is supposed to be a slow process. I was on Effexor XR for almost two years and it took almost a year to be completely off of all medication.
My husband is on effexor, if he misses even 1 day he gets lite headed, sick to his stomach, and achy. Make sure your doctor knows that you are weaning off it, don't just do it on your own.
I have a friend that was on it. She is switching to another medication and she started to have panic attacks. I do know a lot of these kind of drugs can cause withdrawl symptoms. I used to be on a different one and when I missed my dose, I would get a severe headache and felt sick until I took it. As another person said, make sure your doctor knows you are weening off of it.
My husband took Effexor for several years. He tapered off of it, but it took a VERY long time. He had dizziness and headaches. Do it very slowly and you should be okay. Effexor is notorious for being hard to quit.
I take effexor xr, and if I miss it even by a few hours, I get a weird electric shock feeling in my head and throughout my body. I feel dizzy and nauseous. If it's a whole day, I can't even look to the side without getting a buzzing in my head. Definitly make sure your doctor knows you're going off of it, and do it slowly!
Yes, I have and I withdrew slowly according to the docs instructions and had no problems at all.

I stopped taking it and suffered from upset stomache, brain freezes. eye twitches and feeling light headed.
