Looking back at my life and my experience I would say that there are some risks that I should have taken and some that I definitely shouldn't have. This is a risk worth taking.
My guess is that he probably feels the same way. Really if he is your true friend he will understand. If he doesn't then you know what kind of friendship you really had. You are young enjoy it!

Two things you are doing wrong. Asking for others to answer you by e-mail is dangerous, now hundreds of weirdos know where you live. The other thing is why not have your friend converse with you at your address. And before he transfers away, try and tell him how much you will miss him next term. Even choke up a little (face to face talk of course) and see if his response is also the same as yours. There are always weekends to get together.

Do the "My Friend Question"...Ask him questions and get some advice of what he would want a girl to do or something like that. Get him in a chat. You should really tell him. Eventually, a lot of friends are going to grow apart. Come on, it's high school. It's either you tell him or your done.
You're in a great position. Drop subtle hints all summer long that you like him, but don't come right out and say anything. Buy him an ice cream, take him to the movies on your dime, tell him how good he looks.
Then with about a week before he goes to private school, tell him your true feelings. If he responds positively, you're in like flynn. If he says "no thanks", then he's moving on to private school, and you can go back to your public school with no regrets and can eye some other fish in the sea.
