I've always had irregular menstruation ever since i started my periods when i was 12; i can miss periods for durations ranging from 1 week to 3 months and i'm now already 20.
My last period was in march this year and i went to see a doctor to see whether there's any medicine i could take to regulate or make my menses come.
He gave me 2 kinds of medicine. Ferrous fumarate 200mg (for iron deficiency) and Norethisterone 5mg. I had taken them for 3 days now and nothing has happened yet.
I was wondering whether anyone has had the experience or knowledge of these medicine can tell me whether they work?
And also is there anyone who suffers from irregular periods as well? How do u remedy the situation?
Please do help! I am so worried!
Thank u all in advance!
Answer:
i would recommend against going on the pill. i went on the pill at a younger age and have polycystic ovarian syndrome now, i believe that the unnatural hormones in the pills aided in the problems i am having today.
go to a doctor, and dont let them push you around, this is a very serious concern.
i have always had irregular periods (other than when i was put on the pill) and when i was 20, my periods completely stopped, and the only reason i got it again was after my doctor put me on medication to jumpstart it again.
i was always told not to worry about it, that i was young, and there was no real cause for concern.
unfortunately, i have been trying for 5 years now to have a baby and have been very unsuccessful.
i cant help but wonder if the doctors had taken me seriously when i first showed concerns, whether i would be in the situation i am in now.
i wish you luck.
there are a few herbal supplements that you can get to help regulate your hormone levels (Vitex Berries, in pill form, as well as Red Raspberry leaf, and also Dong Quai root)
i hope you find a good solution, and dont run into the same problems as i have.
HOWEVER I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH, before adding any herbal supplements to your regimen, speak with your doctor first if you are taking other medications, to make sure there will be no interactions or side effects.
This is more common than what you might think.
Go to your doc and ask to be put on the Pill. It'll help straighten out your periods. If he won't do it, go to an OBGYN and have them to it.
Sweet heart, change doctors and ask for a full blood work. I suffered irregular periods for years, with weight gain, headaches etc. I was diagnosed with poly cystic ovaries syndrome. It was only when I pushed and pushed that they did the test. The test showed that I was going through menopause at aged 18. My body struggled for so long with PCOS that it went down hill quick. Now I am one of the rare cases around so don't stress. You sound like you don't have many of the symptoms. If anything go to the doctor and ask them to find why your periods are irregular. Ask them to show you why they are.
My blood when taken at mid-cycle and end of cycle show significant deficiencies and therefore it made the doctors think harder about me and my symptoms.
If you have your blood taken your result will be classed in a normal or outside that range. If they come back as fine then be happy for that. There are two types of PCOS and 80% of women suffer from one sort or another and many don't know it.
I am currently being treated with the pill as a way to help me with my cycle. I am seeing a Chinese herbalist and acupuncturist to help turn the damage around. I have can honestly say that it is working and one day I might be able to have kids.
I got my period when I was 9 yrs. old. I've always been irregular. I would get it 2-3 times a year, real heavy for days sometimes weeks. Or never get it for more than a year. I finally recently 11/2 yrs. ago went on birth control and now it's pretty normal. I have no idea why I waited this long. I'm now 32.
When I was your age and younger, I had the same problems. I was married and can't tell you how many times I thought I was pregnant. Only to get my period eventually. My gynaecologist told me it was just my own cycle and after examining me a few times to rule out any major problems, he told me to just relax. When in fact I did become prgnant with our first child, once he was born, I was regular from that point on.
I have a family member who never knows when she will have a period. They are all over the place! And don't worry about when you want a kid. She got pregnant, and didn't know it until she went into labor. She's a big girl. So from her to you, she just got used to being irregular figuring that irregular is regular for her body.
