Day or night?

i finally started my birth control. my doctor told me that if i wanted, i could take the pill at night before i go to bed or when i wake up. i figured i'd take it at night so i wouldn't have an upset stomach throughout the day. i recently told my friend that i was going on it. she asked me at what time of the day i was taking it and i told her. she told me that taking it at night doesn't really help that much because it only stays in yoru system for 8 hours. it got me a little worried. does the birth control work just as well if i would have taken it in the morning.

Answer:
Take it whenever works best for you and what will be easiest to remember. If that's at night then take it at night. It is equally as effective regarless of when you take it. The side effects like nausea will fade with time. I take mine at noon everyday because that is the most convenient for me. :)
is your friend a dr? if not,,,,,i would just heed my real dr.'s words!
You can take your birth control any time of day but you should take it at the same time every day. It doesn't matter if you take it every night, if that is what is most convenient for you. You'll still have the same level of safety as if you were taking it every morning.
The key to the b/c pill is just taking it at the same time everyday. It can be hard to remember everyday. To solve this problem, I set an alarm on my cell phone to go off at the same time everyday. I always carry my pills in my purse, so no matter where I am, I can take it.
If the pill lasted for only 8 hours, you'd have to take more than one a day. Your friend is mistaken. You're fine as long as you take your pill everyday around the same time no matter what time that may be.
it doesnt matter when you take it as long as you take it at the same time everyday. if you dont take it at the same time, your hormones get messed up, and then it stops working.
Most pills last 24 hours and you are supposed to take them at the same time every day. You should call your doctor and ask just to make sure, though.
By the way, i'm sure you already know this, but like I mentioned above, make sure you take the pill at the same time every day. You said you take it right before you go to sleep, but you could be going to sleep at a different time every night. For this reason, I also think taking it in the morning is a horrible idea, because one day you might wake up at 8, and the next day you could wake up at 10 or 11, and by this time your egg could have descended. So just make sure you choose a time that you're sure you will be able to take the pill at every day :)
