Sounds like you're getting your period. It can start off like that. You're definately at the age where you should have it or be getting it real soon.

The dark brown is old blood, which means that you have started your period. It may be really light and only last a few days at the beginning, but eventually it will become more like a "proper" period.

Looks like your starting your period, so yes it's VERY normal. Make sure you're prepared for the full onset, like having sanitary pads, etc., on hand. Always keep a couple in your school bag or whatever - that way you won't be caught short and panic!!
thats your period! yep, im afraid so! All that sounds totally normal for a first period- its not just like the blood that would come out of a cut on your arm, menstrual blood is more describable by what you have encountered. So dont worry and tell your mum!:)
actually think u started im 13 and mine was exacacly like that i was so worried i asked my sister and she said if i still get it threw out the day then its deff my period and it was. i just started my second period today and ts still brown because its old blood not dry
