My mother is having colorectal surgery next week. She is getting very nervous and anxious. I want to knokw if anyone has any suggestions as to what I can do to comfort her? Also, if any of you know about this, what happens afterward and how long will it take for her to recover? I really appreciate your help. Oh! If the surgery is going to be done through laparoscopy (minimally-invasive surgical approach),it may reduce postoperative pain and medication levels, promote faster return of bowel function, and improved cosmetic results.
Just be with her. Take her to lunch, to a movie (comedy!), etc. Don't know about recovery...my grandmother had that but in 1980. God bless.
